What do you do when you have limited resources, time, and content?

Nowadays, each platform is known best for differing types of content. Instagram is for photos, Tik Tok for video, Twitter for text only, Facebook for video…. The list goes on. But what do you do when you have limited resources, time, and content?
The answer really lies in knowing who your audience is. Investing in analysing and creating target audience personas is vital in finding out what content you should be creating, and where you should be posting it.
I have become expert in identifying these elements of a digital strategy and giving advice on how to excel in social media marketing. However, if you are looking for a quick fix, I am here to help today. With most people admitting being visual learners and that visual aides are more effective in getting a message across, images and videos are king and queen of the content world.
In a post-COVID world, businesses are also competing against each other like never before. Standing out is harder, so focusing on content that resonates with customers is the goal.
If you can, use original images of your products, or behind-the-scenes footage taken by your staff to win customers over, but if you do not have the time or budget to get this done, consider using free stock image sites such as Raw Pixel, Unsplash or Flickr. There is no shame in it, and you can still credit the photographer! A little tip from me on using these sites; do not go for the first image you see, scroll through your options to ensure you are not using the same one as your competitor!
Videos are also a fantastic way of quickly getting your message across. Is there an announcement you want to make? Do you have a new staff member you want to introduce? Video is the way forward. If you keep it short, then you can have great successes from videos. If it is a how-to video, remember to make it accessible with subtitles and ensure the person speaking is not talking too fast. If you do not have the technical skill to create a video, just get in touch – I do! And I know what works, and what does not…
Infographics are not just for non-profits – they are a great tool in explaining any complex data or statistics you want to show off. More recently, they have become an integral part of most digital strategies as they are quick to create and can have maximum impact on your users. I am going to give you another top tip here – use your branding very wisely when creating an infographic. You do not need to use every single colour or font or design element for the customer to recognise it is coming from you. Less is more here, especially when you are providing them with important and accurate data.
Lastly, as a late contender to the game… Screenshots have become popular during the COVID and Zoom era. Although we are all tired of being in and out of Zoom or Teams meetings, these screenshots of staff smiling and working, have become an important component of the human side of businesses and how they market themselves to their customers.
Remember, to be successful, you do not have to fill your content calendar with every single type of content whether it is a presentation, meme, sound bite, or one of the options above; but rather, it has got to be what works for you and your company.
Get in touch today to discuss all things digital – whether it is the overarching strategy you have been avoiding, creating a solid content calendar for your teams to follow, or developing a finite list of target audiences, I can help.
